The 3CMX is exactly the same as a 3CM except for the outer shell being expanded.  Allowing you to use the outer shell with normal coins.  The half dollar 3CM's are already made this way.  Only the dollar size 3CM's were made using cut down coins and shells.  There are advantages to both, just depends on your personal application.  This is just one more option for you.
